COMMUNITY GROUPS

Community groups are the primary place where you are known and cared for at Seven Hills Church. It is within these small communities that men, women and children can build personal relationships and practice applying the gospel to their lives. Each group expects to experience Jesus Christ in its midst, enabling participants to be transformed through mutual ministry and to experience life in the family of God.

Composed of six to twelve people, groups meet in homes throughout the city. All groups are led by trained leaders from the congregation who receive continued oversight and support from our pastoral staff. Groups generally meet two to four times a month for worship, Bible study, fellowship, and prayer. Many groups also participate in monthly service projects or fun social events in place of a regular meeting.

These groups provide sanctuary from the pressures and anxieties of life in the city and facilitate the formation of new friendships. Community groups are places where we can be revitalized and strengthened as we seek to reflect the love of Jesus Christ to our city. As God made us for community, we need others to help us apply the gospel to our lives. Our hope is that everyone who attends our church regularly will be involved in a community group.

FRIDAY MORNING PRAYER GROUP

Seven Hills Church is committed to living out our devotion to God through the reality of prayer as we live in day-by-day dependence upon Him for all things. In light of this, a group gathers every Friday morning before work to study a passage of scripture together, pray through the themes of the text, and then pray for one another, our church, and specific requests from our community. All are welcome anytime!

Time: Friday Mornings 6:30am-7:00am

RACIAL JUSTICE + DIVERSITY MINISTRY

Seven Hills is committed to the pursuit of Racial Justice and Diversity. In this time of transition for our church, we seek to explore ways that our church can live out this calling in our own lives and in the life of our church. All are welcome to join us for a fall re-envisioning evening as we discuss this ministry. While this meeting will be in-person, we will also have a remote option (link below). If you cannot attend but would like to be part of this discussion, please contact Becca.

Time: In person at the home of Becca + Luke Stone (Medford)
(Monthly meeting time TBD)

ARTIST FELLOWSHIP GROUP

The Artist Fellowship Group has its own website! Find it here.

The city of Somerville has more artists per capita than any other city in the US outside of Manhattan. Therefore, Seven Hills Church is committed to caring for the needs and helping to provide authentic, deep community for the artists in our city. Moreover, at Seven Hills Pres, we believe that the study of true beauty is the study of God. In his article Why we Need Artists, Tim Keller writes:

While we have artists because they have the ability to see the greater reality, we need artists because we can’t understand truth without art. You see, reason tells us about the truth, but we really cannot grasp what it means; we can't understand it without art. Jonathan Edwards made this point as well. Edwards said that unless you use imagination, unless you take a truth and you imagine it—which of course is art—you don't know what it means. If you can't visualize it, you don't have a sense of it on your heart. Therefore, the Church needs artists to assist the body in understanding truth . . . and to equip the Church to praise God.

Time: Last Friday of the Month @ 7:30pm

COLLEGE GROUPS

Boston is the country’s (and perhaps the world’s) premier academic center, boasting 74 colleges and universities (including Harvard, MIT, and Tufts) with an enrollment of nearly 300,000 students. Many of these students live and study in Somerville, and Seven Hills Church is committed to reaching out and caring for the needs of these students. Below is a list of college ministry groups that we partner with, support, and recommend.
